Odusan Unification Observatory In DMZ
We woke up 6:30 am to take buses to Odusan Unification Observatory as an alternative for the expensive DMZ tour ($50+) that requires permits processed by a travel agency. The Korean Demilitarized Zone is a strip of land running across the Korean Peninsula serving as a buffer zone between North Korea and South Korea. We took a subway to Hapjeong (合井) stop exit 8, to take bus 2200 to get off then take bus 900 for two stops and finally a free shuttle to the Observatory. Our cost per person was $12. The exhibits demonstrate the cruel and tragic impact of history on today’s reality of Korean Peninsula. In a clear day (rather than a hazy day like today), there are views over the confluence of both Imjin and Han Rivers, the surrounding nature and towards North Korea. As a part of the visit, I got the chances to photo with Korean traditional dresses.
