Transfer @ Detroit

Image
This was the first time that I used Delta frequent flyer miles for international flights. The one way trip from Taipei to Washington Dulles costed me 35,000 miles and $38. China Airlines fed me well. The major higup was the 1 hr 50 min transfer from SFO to DTW due to the long customs clearance lines caused by multiple airplanes arrived around the same time. I was forced to drag my checked bag to domestic terminal and barely caught my flight. This was also the first time I flew via Detroit airport. It has A military lounge, a 700ft light tunnel like the one in IAD, a 39-ft wide, elliptical-shaped black granite water feature that shoots water through, and AirTran within the terminal.

Flying out of Taipei

My last day in Taiwan included wiring $, having lunch with a friend, seeing my dentist to adjust my dental flipper, and playing in the airport for another 5 hr to start my 22 hr 3 leg journey. I stopped by the airport library, art gallery, AV center, themed waiting lounges. In addition, I enjoyed the sports park, lighting/sleeping room, and a free hot shower in the Adidas room. I am so relaxed for my long flights home after traveling for three months. BTW, it is faster to auto-check for boarding passes, and auto-check luggages, instead of waiting in line at the counter. For auto-checking luggage, suitcases can be checked anytime, while backpacks and irregular luggages have to wait until 3-hr prior to the flight to auto-check.

A block chain seminar and nearby attractions

I walked via weekend markets 建國假曰花市 to attend a block chain gaming meetup, and checked out the nearby electronics shopping area 光華商場and incubator 華山文創.

An AI startup

I attended an AI seminar and ran into a startup with great potential, then set up a meeting the next day. I checked out the shopping and outdoor entertainment after the meeting.

Ran into classmate in the library

After the morning hike, I ran into my trade school classmate right in front of a city library elevator after not seeing each other for over 25 years. We had lunch and chatted a bit. I then shopped at the nearby market before my next event.
