Mosque then beach
I was half hour early than the 8:30 am open time for Masjid Omar Ali Saifuddien, an impossible-to-miss landmark in Brunei since it sits tall and surrounded by a lake right in the center of the capital city and it is the tallest building at 52m high. The Mosque, built in honor of the Sultan’s late father, the 28th Sultan of Brunei, in 1958 is made of solid gold and fine marvel from Italy and was inspired by India’s Mughal architecture.
I took 1-hr bus to visit the Muara Beach with white sand yet garbage thereon. I was tempted to solicit the university students bbq in the beach park to collect the garbage in lieu of the sport events. The beach is right across the country’s only deep water port but the access was blocked. I was dropped by the bus at town center which is 2 km from the beach and map.me guided me to the port. A kind port worker gave me a lift to the beach, and another kind resident gave me another lift back to the town center after I spent 1.5 hrs walking on the beach.
I went to the money exchange to handle different currencies before I fly out Brunei tomorrow. I think my body finally got over with the cold.
