Malacca night market

I was in Jonker Walk Night Market to hunt for Malaysian food. The market opens Friday to Sunday evenings from 6PM-12AM. There are an endless range of souvenirs, antiques and crafts throughout the market. A wide variety of food include chicken rice balls, radish cake, cendol (a sweet coconut milk and jelly noodle dessert), Kaya (a spread made from coconut) filled waffles and grapes dipped in chocolate or caramel encrusted kiwis. I tried Nyonya Laksa and a giant coconut ball for dinner. Hope my stomach has recovered enough to handle Nyonya Laksa, a rich coconut-based broth, cooked with chicken bones and prawn shells. This dish from Melaka is known as laksa lemak (fatty laksa). It represents one of Peranakan’s recipes and traditions with influences of Malay and Chinese culture.
