Kite Festival & King
I checked out Brunei’s 1st International Kite Festival and shook hands with the beloved king! The 72-yr-old king has been ranked among the wealthiest individuals in the world; Forbes estimated the Sultan's total peak net worth at US$20 billion in 2008. After Queen Elizabeth II (as Queen of each of Australia, Britain, Canada, and New Zealand), the King is the world's second longest-reigning current monarch. His primary residence, the 1,800-room palace Istana Nurul Iman, is considered the world's largest private residence (open to public three days a year).
The were approximately two hundred kite flyers, 100 of whom international participants from 30 countries and regions. There were also kite flying workshops and exhibitions. many of Brunei's kites still keep traditional designs but are constructed with modern technology and materials.
There were also Sunday flea markets. I got my lunch and went back to hostel to pack for my flight to Seoul en route of Kuala Lumpur.
