Vientiane Night market

I ran out of things to do in Vang Vieng (avoided kayaking and swimming due to water contamination), so I took 1:30 pm VIP bus into Vientiane around 6:00 pm  the capital of Laos. After checking in the hostel, I walked to the night market for dinner. Laos dishes were spicy, fragrant, and are often accompanied by sticky rice and lots of fresh herbs and salad leaves. The French influence is most clearly seen in the baguettes and pastries available all over the city as well as the availability of cheese and pate. The colourful night market in Vientiane is right next to the Mekong river, and has hundreds of great dishes on offer at cheap prices, including crocodile meat! I ordered the local grilled fish with rice.
